The Idea

What We're Making

Strange Syrups makes artisan syrups that live in the space between elevated and completely absurd. This is part of a three-concept Instagram Reel and TikTok series called Fast Food Never Looked This Weird — and Caviar Service is the one we're most excited about.

The premise: a female mechanic who treats her lunch break with the same care and expertise she brings to everything else in the shop. McDonald's hashbrown. Creme fraiche. Real caviar. Strange Syrup. And a dipstick that tells the whole story. She doesn't think any of this is unusual. That's what makes it Strange.

"Luxurious in execution. Absurd in premise. Completely, totally Strange."

Tone

Deadpan and cinematic. This is not a comedy sketch — it's a Reel that takes itself completely seriously. The absurdity lives in the concept, not the performance. She is fully in her world and completely unbothered.

Aesthetic

Dark, saturated, and rich. Think editorial food photography crossed with gritty garage — not a polished commercial. The contrast between the grimy shop and the caviar tin is the whole visual joke.

Your Role

You are the mechanic. This shop is yours. You move through it with total confidence and authority. The food is just lunch. You've done this a hundred times. Nothing about this setup feels strange to you — because for you, it isn't.

On Camera

Key Scenes

The video is short — under a minute — but it needs to feel cinematic and real. Here are the key moments we're building toward.

01
The Dipstick
You pull the dipstick from the engine. It comes up coated in Strange Syrup. You examine it with quiet satisfaction — and lick it. Matter-of-fact. Unhurried. This is the scroll-stop moment the whole video is built around.
02
The Drawer
You open a toolbox drawer and retrieve the caviar tin. With total intention — you knew exactly where it was. The mechanic who always knows where everything is, including the caviar.
03
The Assembly
You build your lunch at the workbench. Hashbrown placed, creme fraiche spooned on, caviar added, Strange Syrup poured. The movements of someone who has done this many times and sees nothing unusual about it.
04
The Eat
You eat standing at the workbench. You look back at the car you were working on. You nod. You go back to the food. Then back to work. This is just lunch.
What We Need

The Requirements

We want someone who feels right for this — not just someone who looks the part. Confidence, presence, and a genuine comfort with the weird are more important than any specific look.

Non-Negotiables
  • You must be genuinely comfortable eating real caviar on camera. This is the central food element — there is no workaround. If caviar or seafood is a hard no for you, this particular shoot is not the right fit.
  • You must be comfortable with the dipstick lick. This is the money shot of the video — it needs to feel natural, matter-of-fact, and completely unbothered. No hesitation on camera.
  • Comfort in a real working garage environment. This is not a studio — it's an actual mechanic shop with actual grime. You should feel at home in it, not out of place.
  • Willingness to have some real grease applied to your hands and forearms. It needs to read as authentic, not costumed.
  • Fully camera-ready nails. Hands are prominent throughout — we'll support a manicure in advance.
  • Available for approximately 3 hours during a weekday or weekend session in Greenville, NC.
A Note on the Caviar

We know caviar is not for everyone — and that's completely okay. We just need to know upfront. The concept only works if the talent is genuinely comfortable with it on camera. Discomfort reads immediately. If it's a hard no, we appreciate you saying so now.

Your Look

Wardrobe Direction

Final wardrobe is directed on set by our art director — but here's the general direction so you know what we're going for.

Fitted denim or canvas mechanic overalls over a ribbed tank or cropped tee. Work boots — real, not fashion. Broken in.

Bandana is an option — classic tied style, not trendy. Final call is with our art director on the day.

Hands are on camera throughout. Nails must be clean and shoot-ready. We will cover a manicure — just let us know ahead of time.

She owns this garage. The wardrobe should feel like something she already wears, not something she put on for the shoot.

Anything overly styled or "fashion mechanic." We want real workwear energy — this should look lived in.

Calm. Confident. Deadpan. You are not performing for the camera — you are just going about your day. That's the whole thing.

The Details

What to Expect

This is a small, professional crew — director, camera operator, and art director. The environment is relaxed, the direction is clear, and we're not going to waste your time. Here's what the day looks like.

Location

Import Services, Greenville, NC. A real working mechanic shop — lifts, tools, the whole thing. Exactly as it sounds.

Duration

Approximately 2 to 3 hours on set. We move efficiently. You'll know the schedule in advance and we'll stick to it.

Brief and Prep

You'll receive a full brief and wardrobe direction before the day. No surprises on set — we believe in preparation.
